Christopher Whelton,
C.P.A. After receiving his Bachelor degree from Loyola University of Chicago with a major in Public Accounting, Mr. Whelton worked as an auditor specializing in school districts for eight years. He was hired by Maine Township High School District 207 as the Director of Fiscal Services in July 1998. Mr. Whelton received his Master degree from Northern Illinois University and his Type 75 administrative certificate with a chief school business official endorsement in August, 2000. Under his leadership, this large high school district with an enrollment of approximately 7,000 students received the ASBO International Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006) and the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (2004, 2005, and 2006). In 2005, Mr.Whelton created the Budget at a Glance Publication as a useful tool for communicating with the community regarding school finance. He has shared and presented this publication with the members of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials and ASBO International at their respective annual conferences. Mr. Whelton is an active member of IASBO, currently serving as the chair of the Budgeting & Financial Planning Committee and was elected as a delegate to the IASBO Delegate Advisory Assembly. He was hired as the Business Manager for Riverside Brookfield High School District 208 in July, 2007. |
