Extra Curricular:

Art Club

 

RBHS Art Club is an extracurricular activity for students who are interested in the visual arts. The group will work on both collaborative and independent studio projects throughout the year. No previous experience necessary, all are welcome! This club meets every other Wednesday in the Ceramics Room, #247, starting at 3:15pm. Drama Club / Improv Troupe

 

Improv Club meets after school on Wednesdays in room 130.  There students play theatre games, improvise scenes, and polish their improv skills.  A twice yearly trip to a Comedy Performance in the city also takes place.  Through audition, students can participate in our improve troupe: Shenanigans, which will rehearse and perform improvised shows throughout the area. Lighting & Sound Tech Crew

 

RBHS Tech Crew is a team that uses set, lighting and sound design come to life to create the world of the theater.  Students on crew require no experience, just a willingness to work as a team for this common goal.  We meet after school Monday through Thursday beginning 6 weeks before the show begins.  While the theater spaces are under construction, the location is still to be announced.  For more information please contact Debbie McLaughlin at mclaughlind@rbhs208.org.

 

Men's Ensemble

 

Men's Ensemble is a non-auditioned choir open to all young men of Riverside Brookfield High School who enjoy singing.  The group meets every Monday night at 6:00 p.m. in the choir Room. They rehearse and perform traditional and contemporary a cappella music throughout the school year.  Men's ensemble performs in school concerts as well as community service concerts. Orchesis Dance Company

 

Orchesis Dance Company is an extra-curricular activity that allows student to choreograph, perform and dance at the annual Orchesis Spring Dance Concert.  Auditions are held in October and rehearsals run Monday- Thursday from 3:30-5:30 or 6pm.  Orchesis begins the last week in February and runs until the beginning of May.  Dancers participate in "Day of Dance," fieldtrips, local area performances, teach community members and work with guest teachers and choreographers.  For more information please contact Mindy Haines at 708-442-7500 x. 2222 or hainesm@rbhs208.org.

 

Photo Club

 

Photo Club is open to any RB students interested in learning and talking about all things photography.  The club is great for students that can can’t fit Photography courses in their schedule, but want to learn darkroom skills and have access to the facilities. Repertory Dance Ensemble

 

Repertory Dance Ensemble is an honors co-curricular class that meets during the school day. Repertory Dance Ensemble serves the community by performing at various community events and providing educational art outreach programs to local schools and community centers.  Students study with guest choreographers, attend workshops, dance conventions and participate in the Illinois H.S. Tri-M (Modern Music Masters)

 

Tri-M is a national music honor society and the three “M” initials stand for “Modern Music Masters.” The purpose of this organization is to inspire music participation, create enthusiasm for musical scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, and promote leadership in the music students of secondary schools. Tri-M is governed by the MENC: the National Association for Music Education. To achieve these goals, we perform at the school and in the community, practice ear training, attend local music events, and volunteer in the community.
