Borrowing AV equipment
Either e-mail Mary Todhunter, the AV Assistant, or come to the TV/AV Department (Room 250, across from the art rooms) to request equipment.  Please fill out the proper form to indicate the type of equipment you need, and the time and location you will need it.  If sufficient equipment is available, you may request an extended loan, up to a full school year.  Most equipment is gathered at the end of the year for maintenance and cleaning.  If you would like assistance in setting up or using a piece of equipment, please ask the AV Assistant when you request the equipment.  Be on the lookout for workshops we offer in using new types of equipment.
Note:  to avoid frustration, please request equipment with plenty of advance notice.

Setups of Presentation Equipment
We understand that not everyone is comfortable in using all types of equipment, and it is our job to assist you.  You may want to try something new, and nobody wants to risk damaging expensive equipment.  We can help you to connect computers to TV monitors or to video projectors. Or add speakers to your computer.  Microphones, video cameras, and large screens may be helpful for a classroom activity.  Just call us (ext. 119) or e-mail us, and we can help you be a star!

Note:  when you're planning some type of presentation, please tell us what you're planning.  Sometimes we go to set up a projector, as requested, but discover that there's no computer in the reserved location -- or an extension cord is required to reach the place where the teacher has set the projector.  Help us all to avoid frustration by planning with us in advance.

Lamination
Whether it's small bookmarks, signs, or large posters, we can laminate items for classroom use.  Please give us at least one week to complete the order.

Posters, Signs, Displays
Our goal is to help you learn how to use the technologies we have available -- Microsoft Publisher, Adobe PhotoShop and Illustrator, and various laser printers.  But we can help you design and reproduce attractive items for classrooms, or for clubs or other school organizations.  Stop by or call ext. 119 to brainstorm ideas.  And if you do a lot of posters, signs, brochures, tickets, or other items, you might want to take advantage of some staff development workshops offered by the technology department.

Photography
Digital cameras are available from the Computer Lab Assistants (call ext. 116), but the AV Department has both video and 35mm cameras available for teachers and staff.

AV repairs and supplies
Just call ext. 119 or send a student to report a problem, and the AV Assistant will come to your room as soon as she is able. Instant repairs might not be possible.  We may be able to provide a replacement item until the repair is completed.  You may need to borrow an item from a nearby classroom. We can often correct problems such as burned-out overhead projector bulbs, projectors that won't work, sounds that don't work --  our goal is to have you up and running as soon as possible so that you and your students can continue the learning.

If you cannot reach anyone at ext. 119, and no one is available in the AV Center, call the pager, 718-0526, to report an emergency problem.
