Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The library and computer labs are provided as resources for your educational
needs. Our function is to assist you in finding and using information
and in selecting reading materials. We are happy to help you with
new software programs, with producing reports and multimedia presentations,
and with learning new and better techniques for searching our card catalog,
online resource subscription databases, and Internet sites.
Using the library: You are welcome to use
the library before and after school or during your study hall. To spend
your study hall period in the library or a computer lab,
you must:
- Go directly to library or computer lab before the bell rings
- Have a current ID
- Fill out both halves of an attendance slip and be checked in by a library
or lab assistant.
There are only three possible reasons to use the library during
your study hall period:
1. You need to research using library materials.
2. You wish to select and read a book.
3. You wish to read one of our 150 different
magazines.
You will be expected to work the entire period quietly, independently,
and seated no more than two to a table. We will be busy helping students
and teachers find and use information, so study hall students must understand
the conditions for working in the library. Under ordinary circumstances
students will not have library work to do every day, so they should remain
in study hall.
- Please do not bring food or beverages into labs or library.
- Sit in the seat assigned to you in the library or computer labs.
- For security and safety reasons, please leave your backpacks in the designated
area
Using a Computer: To be able to work
on a computer during the day without your whole class being there (i.e.
during study hall or if sent on a pass from a class), you must have a green
Computer Lab Pass signed by your teacher filled out with the specific assignment
you need to complete in the lab. Study hall students will be expected
to spend the entire period working productively on their computer assignments.
If they finish early, they will be asked to log off and work on other homework.
Students sent from classes will be sent back when they finish.
Behavior: If a student abuses the
behavioral expectations during a study hall in either the library or a
computer lab, he/she will lose the opportunity to use those facilities
during study hall for the remainder of the month ( if it’s halfway through
the month, the restriction lasts for the following month as well.) NOTE:
Succeeding offenses multiply the time; i.e., second offense = two months,
etc.
Photocopies: We have a copy machine
in the library, which you may use. Copies are 5 cents per page.
Please help us to conserve supplies by only copying articles you plan to
use for research. If you have no money, we can add a “fine” to your
account in the library, so if you need to make a copy or printout and have
no money, just ask and we will help you.
Printing
In color: To conserve materials, we charge 50 cents for
each page printed in color from a computer. Always be judicious
and selective when deciding what and how much to print. Help save
a tree! Think before you print.
