What is Speech Team?
An interscholastic IHSA competitive team, which competes in Individual Events at local and state levels. The Speech Team also strives to share a love of performance and public speaking with the school and community. Major goals of the R.B. Speech Team include the following:
- To compete effectively in IHSA Speech competition
- To improve individual public speaking and acting skills
- To encourage participation in speaking and dramatic arts
- To provide opportunities for students to entertain peers and the general public at school and public venues, assemblies, etc.
- To provide an avenue for building team spirit and cooperation
- To provide social and community-building activities for members
- To provide awards and recognition for talented students in public speaking and dramatic arts
- To provide enrichment opportunities (one-day workshops, summer camps, etc.) for students to develop public speaking and performance skills.
