The Task:
Your job will be to
examine the attitudes of the twenties based on an investigation of the topics
listed below. You will focus on the written and spoken word, as well as visual
images, and then draw conclusions about the "real" twenties and later you will
relate it to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s view.
Process: Begin
by reading the literature on various aspects of life in the 1920’s and consider
how it might relate to The Great Gatsby. While reading the novel we will
refer back to this pre-reading search. For example, how was the role of women
changing in the 20’s? Research to find out. Using the outline below create a
sentence outline about the roaring twenties as if you were going to write an
essay. For each Roman numeral write a topic sentence and for each letter below
in a couple of sentences note some information you found about that topic.
