NORDSTROM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

This scholarship is open to high school juniors who reside in and attend school in the Chicago area.  Applicants must have at least a 2.7 GPA, have made a substantial contribution to the community, be involved in school activities and demonstrate the financial need for a scholarship.  Five $10,000 scholarships will be awarded.  To apply, students will need to complete an application which includes a personal statement, financial statement, a letter of recommendation, and an original essay of no more than 500 words in response to one of three statements.  An official copy of your high school transcript will be required.  Visit www.nordstrom.com/scholarship for more information.

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This program is available to graduating Hispanic high school seniors who will be enrolled in college full-time during the 2011-12 academic year.  For more information visit http://www.hsf.net/

LINCOLNLAND LEGENDS

 

This scholarship is open to all juniors and/or seniors with a special emphasis on students who have demonstrated business and/or community leadership.  Application forms can be accessed at www.illinoisdollarsforscholars.org .  An essay of 750-1,000 words is required.   There will be 20 winners in the state of Illinois with a top scholarship of $6,000 awarded. 

 

JOSEPH BLAZEK FOUNDATION

 

This $500 scholarship is available to a senior living in Cook County who shows financial need. The applicants must be majoring in one of the following fields: Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Science. For more information contact the Joseph Blazek Foundation at 312-372-3880. ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION- Most Valuable Student Scholarship

 

This scholarship is open to High School seniors who are U.S. citizens.  There will be 500 4-year, renewable scholarships awarded ranging from $1,000-$15,000 per year.  Applications are available at www.elks.org/enf/scholars

 

 U.S. BANK’S INTERNET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

This scholarship is open to high school seniors planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college on a full-time basis. Up to forty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.  You can apply online at www.usbank.com/scholarship .  Applications will be accepted from October through March.

 

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS

ABBOTT AND FENNER SCHOLARSHIP

AXA ACHIEVEMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

 

This is a $2,000 scholarship.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents and be a current senior who will be enrolling full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.  Applicants are ambitious and motivated, as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community, or work activities and be recommended by an unrelated adult who can attest to this achievement.  Applications are available in student services and at http://www.axa-equitable.com/axa-foundation/community-scholarships.html

 

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

 

            The AXA Achievement Scholarship offer college scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in their activities in school, the community or the workplace.  Fifty-two students will be selected to receive $10,000 scholarships, one from each stated, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.  From the state recipients, 10 students will be named AXA Achievers and receive additional national awards at $15,000 each for a total of $25,000 per national recipient.  Visit www.axa-achievement.com for application. 

 

WAL-MART COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

THE RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM

 

Applicants must be African-American seniors who make significant contributions to society.  Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service and demonstrate financial need.  Must be U.S. citizen or hold permanent resident visa card.  Amount is $10,000 annually for 4 years. For a total of $40,000.  Application postmark deadline is November 1, 2009 to be considered for the Ron Brown Scholarship and to have applications be forwarded to a select and limited number of additional scholarship providers. BEST BUY SCHOLARSHIP

 

Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who will be attending a college, university or vocational school in the fall immediately following their high school graduation. Scholarship recipients are selected based on volunteerism efforts along with academic achievements. Best Buy partners with Scholarship America to handle the administration and selection of recipients. SIMON YOUTH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Applicant must be a high school senior and will attend an accredited two year or four year college, university or vocational-technical school. The selection process will take into consideration financial need, past academic performance, future potential, leadership and participation in school and community activities. ILLINOIS AMVETS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

·        Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarship- One year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship.  Applicants must be high school seniors and have taken the ACT or SAT.

·        Illinois AMVETS Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship- One year scholarship, amount to be determined.  Applicants must be Illinois high school seniors who have been accepted into a pre-approved nursing program.  Applicants must prove satisfactory in academic record, character, interest and activity record, and financial need.

·        Illinois AMVETS Junior ROTC Scholarship- One year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship.  Applicants must be an Illinois high school senior, have taken an ACT or SAT, and participate in Junior ROTC program.

·        Illinois AMVETS Trade School Scholarship- One year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship.  Applicants must be an Illinois high school senior who has been accepted in a pre-approved trade school program.

·        Illinois AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Scholarship- One year non-renewable $500 scholarship.  Applicants must be an Illinois high school senior, be a child or grandchild of a Veteran of the USA who served after September 15, 1940, and was Honorably Discharged or who is presently serving in the military, and have taken the ACT or SAT.

·        Illinois AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Worchid Scholarship- One year non-renewable $500 scholarship.  Applicants must be and Illinois high school senior, be a child of a deceased father or mother who was a Veteran of the USA who served after September 15, 1940, and was honorably discharged.  They need not be killed in action or died as a result of service-connected disability.  Must have taken ACT or SAT.

 

GATES MILLENIUM SCHOLARSHIP

 

Applicants must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American.  Must be citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, be enrolling for the first time at a U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in fall 2011, have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities, meet federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and have completed and submitted all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) by the deadline.  Online applications available at the GMS website at www.gmsp.org

 

AES SCHOLARSHIP

 

This is a $500 scholarship in which students must submit an essay of no more that 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions that are posted athttp://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm    

 

 

ITALIAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

This is a $400 scholarship to Catholic graduating seniors of Italian descent who have at least a 3.2 GPA.  (If either parent or grandparent is a member of the Federation, the applicant must be Catholic but need not be of Italian ancestry to qualify).  Applications are available in student services or by calling (888) 423-1924.  Visit their website at http://www.icf.org/scholarships.html

 

THE SECRETARIAT – KATHRYN G. HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP

 

This is a $500 scholarship to be used for tuition, fees, books, or other educational expenses at any university within the state of Illinois.  Applicants must be a high school senior pursuing higher education in an office professional, secretarial, or business-related field within the state of Illinois.  Applicants must write a 500 word essay explaining future educational and career plans, provide two letters of recommendation, and submit a high school transcript.  Applications are available in Student Services. 

 

CHICAGO ROOFING CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION

B’NAI B’RITH SPORTS LODGE SCHOLARSHIP

 

Athletic scholarships available to deserving young men and women of the Jewish faith.  Information and application available in Student Services office. 

 

HISPANIC HERITAGE YOUTH AWARDS

 

Applicants must be high school seniors attending college in the Fall of Hispanic/Latino descent, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and have a minimum GPA of 3.00.  Application will be available online at www.HispanicHeritage.org by mid-January.

 

WILL-SOUTH COOK SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT CONSERVATION EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

There are two $1,000 scholarships available to any high school senior in Will/South Cook Counties planning to study Agriculture or Natural Resources in college.  Applicants must complete an application accompanied by 2 letters of recommendation and a 250 word essay.  Applications are available in Student Services office or online at http://www.will-scookswcd.org/scholarships.php.

 

BETA SIGMA PSI LUTHERAN SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran scholarship awards $1,000 to a confirmed Lutheran freshman, male beginning his studies at the University of IllinoisUrbana.  Please see your counselor for more information.

 

KFC COLONEL’S SCHOLARS PROGRAM

 

This $5,000 a year scholarship is available to high school seniors that will be attending a public, in-state college or university. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and must be a US citizen. The online application will be available at www.kfcscholars.org.

 

JAPANESE AMERICAN CITIZENS LEAGUE

 

The Japanese American Citizens League is offering several scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on academic achievement, school and community service, activities, and financial need.  Applicants must be members of Chicago JACL or must join JACL at the time of application.  For more information, visit www.jacl.org.

 

ILLINOIS PTA, LILLIAN E. GLOVER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS OF ILLINOIS SCHOLARSHIP

 

Seven $2,000 scholarships are available to qualified seniors.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be a U.S. citizen, demonstrate community service or leadership, submit a 500 word essay on The Role of Township Government in Today’s Society, supply 2 letters of recommendation, submit an official high school transcript, submit a cover letter and application form, and plan to enroll at an Illinois school as a full-time undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree.  Application available in Student Services. 

 

JOINT CIVIC COMMITTEE OF ITALIAN AMERICANS

 

  • Women’s Division Scholarship- $2,000 scholarship to FEMALE students of Italian heritage who have been accepted into college for fall of 2011.  One parent must be of Italian heritage.  Applications available in Student Services. 
  • Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans, John Fischetti Scholarship-  $2,000 scholarship to a MALE student planning to major in journalism or media communications in fall of 2011.  One parent must be of Italian heritage.  Applications are available in Student Services. 
  • Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans Scholarship-  $2,000 to a MALE student graduating from high school.  One parent must be of Italian heritage.  Applications are available in Student Services. 

 

13TH DISTRICT AHEPA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

GUARDIAN LIFE INSURANCE GIRLS GOING PLACES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD

 MARIAN JOY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES

The Paramount Tall Club of Chicago is offering $750 to a high school senior who meets the height requirement (minimum of 5’10” for females and 6’2” for males) and is planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college this fall. WEST SUBURBAN CHIEFS OF POLICE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

$1,000 scholarship ($500 each semester).  Applicants must be a resident of a West Suburban member town, pursue studies in the field of criminal justice as a full-time student and is not related to an active member Police Chief of the West Suburban Chiefs of Police Association.  Applications are available in Student Services. 

 

GEORGE MAUGOLIAS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

ILLINOIS SONS OF ITALY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

High school seniors of full or partial Italian ancestry are invited to compete for scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.  Applicants will be selected base on financial need, scholastic achievements, activities in high school showing character and leadership, and the applicant’s personal essay and faculty recommendations.  Applications can be obtained by contacting the Illinois Sons of Italy Foundations in writing at 9447 West 144th Place, Orland Park, IL 60462.  Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. 

 

WILLIAM J. COOK FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

FIRST FREEDOM STUDENT ESSAY COMPETITION

ILLINOIS LUMBER AND MATERIAL DEALERS ASSOCATION EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

PFLAG- JEAN PAUL OHADI SCHOLARSHIP

SIGMA NU FRATERNITY PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

WENDY’S HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is for student athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation along with Colgate-Palmolive is offering one $15,000 scholarship and ten $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors. SRCA SCHOLARSHIP

 

The Seguin Retarded Citizens Association will provide two $1,000 scholarships to a high school senior who has the intent of serving persons with developmental disabilities. UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI SCHOLARSHIPS

MARION T. WOOD SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is awarded to a student wishing to pursue an office-related career, preferably in the educational field. The applicant must have taken four semesters of business classes including: keyboarding, marketing, accounting, and business communication. Applicants must also maintain a 2.8 GPA and plan to enroll in a two- or four-year college, university, or technical school. Applications are available in Student Services.

 

MARY FRANSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is awarded to a student wishing to pursue a career in the educational field. The applicant must have taken two or more family and consumer classes which may include: Child Development, Family Relations, and Teaching Internship. Applicants must also maintain a 2.8 GPA and plan to enroll in a two- or four-year college or university. Applications are available in Student Services.

CBAI FOUNDATION FOR COMMUNITY BANKING SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $4,000 scholarship is available to any high school senior. Applicants are required to submit an essay explaining what they like most about their community bank. Please visit Student Services for guidelines and applications.     

 

SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS ILLINOIS SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $1000 scholarship is available to a graduating male or female student who is a descendant of a male who served in the Military. Students must be attending a community college, college, or university. A 500 word essay must be submitted along with an application and transcript. Applications are available in Student Services.

 

B. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $1,000 scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution. THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who has a parent with a disability. Eligible students must graduate in June 2012 and be attending a two or four-year college or university in Fall 2012. Applications can be found at www.lookingglass.org,

 

ILLINOIS ELKS CHILDREN’S CARE SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is awarded to a senior pursuing Physical and Occupational Therapy as a college major. Please come to Student Services for more information.

 

ILLINOIS LUMBER AND MATERIAL DEALERS ASSOCIATION

 

This scholarship is available to any student enrolled full time in a certificate or degree program in an accredited trade school, 2-year college, or 4-year college or university. Please come to Student Services for more information.

 

WEST SUBURBAN CHIEFS OF POLICE ASSOCIATION

 

The West Suburban Chiefs of Police Association will award one $2500 scholarship to a student planning to attend college in Fall 2010. Applicants must be a member of a West Suburban town and pursue studies in the field of Criminal Justice full-time. Applications are available in Student Services.

 

GREAT CLIPS COSMETOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $500 scholarship is awarded to a senior graduating in 2011 that will be pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering after graduation. The scholarship can be used at any accredited cosmetology or barbering school in North Illinois and Northwestern Indiana. Applications are available in Student Services.

 

STATE OF ILLINOIS SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is offered to any student planning to attend an Illinois state university. Please mail a written request for an application to: State Representative Bob Biggins, 114 W. Vallette, Elmhurst, IL 60126.

 

BURGER KING SCHOLARS

 

All high school seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or better are eligible for a $1,000, $5,000, or $25,000 scholarship. Visit

CICERO REHEKAH LODGE SCHOLARSHIP  

 

This scholarship is awarded based on financial need and scholastic ability. Students must have a “C” grade point average and plan to attend an accredited college or trade school. Scholarships are available at www.ioof-il.org.

 

LEAGUE FOUNDATION at AT&T LGBT SCHOLARHSIP

 

Scholarships are available to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender high school seniors who have a 3.0 GPA, significant involvement in community service, and are accepted to an accredited US college or university. Scholarships range from $1500-$2500. Applications are available at www.leaguefoundation.org.

 

BUICK ACHIEVERSSCHOLARHSIP

 

This scholarship is available to seniors planning to attend a 4-year college or university and major in one of the following: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or Design. GE – REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $10,000, renewable scholarship is available to seniors planning to attend a 4-year college or university. Applicants must demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS URBANA/CHAMPAIGN

BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP

 

This $1,750 scholarship is offered to incoming male students who have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics, and community service during their high school careers. Applications are available in Student Services.

 

STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP

 

These scholarships, ranging from $500 to $4,000 are offered to any senior planning to attend a 4-ear college, community/junior college, or career school. There is no minimum GPA or ACT score. You just simply go to www.student-view.com and complete the short application. The scholarships will be awarded via a random drawing.

 

WILL TO WIN SCHOLARSHIP

 

This scholarship is offered to a senior graduating in 2012 that suffers from asthma. Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to two deserving students in each of the following five categories: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Community Service, Athletics, and Science.
