Pearl Harbor: The Day After
In the days, and weeks, following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States military struggled to determine what Japan's next move would be. Was an invasion of Pearl Harbor imminent, or was California the next target? The only physical evidence the Defense Department could examine was the wreckage of Pearl Harbor.
The Task: Your job will be to examine some of the actual photographs taken in Hawaii immediately after the attack. As you examine this evidence, you must accomplish two primary goals.
Analyze each photograph to determine what was destroyed.
Determine exactly what the Japanese were hoping to accomplish.
The Assignment: Upon completion of the analysis, you will hand in the following items;
A photograph analysis worksheet for each photo.
A typed, one page memo explaining Japanese intentions at Pearl Harbor. Your conclusions must be supported with specific examples taken from the photographs.
