The Absolute Monarchs, Hollywood Style

“Okay, here's the problem - you've just become the new Queen of England and been thrust into the middle of a political and religious firestorm, but you don't know who to trust, or even fully understand what is going on.  What to do?”[1]

Engaging historical dilemmas, such as the one described above, have played out on the screens of modern movie theaters thanks to great Hollywood screenwriters, directors, actors, and producers.

You are the next great Hollywood movie mogul.  Your job is to research, develop, and promote a movie about the life of one of the powerful monarchs of Spain, England, or France that are introduced in Chapter 16 of your textbook.  You must conduct additional research about your chosen monarch and use the information you find to create a promotional poster for the film.

Project requirements:

1. Complete a timeline of your monarch’s life that includes at least four major events (10 points)
2. Create a poster using Microsoft Publisher that contains at least one image related to the life story of your main character. 
   • Please make sure the images are high quality and will not be blurry when you print them.  (10 points)
   • Decide on a creative and dramatic title for your film  (5 points)
   • Cast real actors for at least two supporting roles (5 points)

• Please include your name as the director of the film
• No spelling or grammatical mistakes!
• The purpose of your poster is to draw in your audience, so make it interesting!
