Important Dates for Seniors

This is a crucial time for seniors. This year is a time to continue to highlight the quality work of the past three years.  The expectation of colleges and employers is that you present a strong finish as you move forward.  We strongly recommend that you and your son or daughter begin the college planning process within the next two months.  We also urge you to visit college campuses and begin narrowing your college choices.  Below you will find a helpful timeline of important upcoming dates to follow in order to help your college planning process go as smoothly as possible.

Important Senior Dates 2008-09

 

September

           9         *Regular Registration Deadline for October SAT (primarily for seniors)

 9         *College Essay Workshop (Period 2, primarily for seniors)

15         *Mock Admission Workshop (Periods 5 & 6)

16         Senior Parent Coffee (7:15-8:30 AM)

17         College Fair at COD  (6:30-9:00 PM)

18         “Senior College Countdown:  The Secrets of College Admission” (7-8:30 PM)

19         *Regular Registration Deadline for Oct. ACT Exam (primarily for seniors)

21         College Athletics Seminar (6:30-8:30 PM)

26         *Regular Registration Deadline for November SAT Exams

 

 October

           4         *SAT Exams at RBHS (primarily for seniors, includes SAT Subject Test opportunity)

13         Columbus Day (No School:  Many colleges hold open houses.)

          11         National Fine and Performing Arts College Fair at Northwestern University (1-3 PM)

          15         Passion for the Arts (7-8:30 PM, All students interested in arts in college.)

16         Future Focus College Fair (6:30-8:30, RB helps host, at Triton.)

          18         RB Day of Service         

25         NACAC National College Fair (10:00-2:00, at Navy Pier, Chicago) 

25         *ACT Exam at RBHS (primarily senior retakes)

 

November

           1        *SAT Exams (primarily for seniors, not given at RBHS)

 5        Understanding Financial Aid (7-8:00 PM, Room 187)

 5        *Regular Registration Deadline for December SAT Exams (primarily for seniors)

 7        *Regular Registration Deadline for December ACT Exam (primarily for senior retakes)

20         College and Post-Secondary Options Night for Students with Special Needs (6:30-8:30 PM       in Countryside, IL)

           3         FAFSA Completion Workshop (Library, for seniors and parents of seniors)

 8         *Triton On-Site Placement Testing and Registration at RBHS (8:00-12:30 PM)

           1          National Candidate Reply Date  (Seniors should make their final college choice by this date.)

 ** Please note that all students planning to attend a four year college must take either the ACT or the SAT test and should pick up the registration materials immediately from Student Services.  Students may also register electronically by going to http://www.actstudent.org/ or http://www.collegeboard.com/.
